My paintings reflect what I am and how I see and feel about the

world I live in.

​

My greatest inspiration comes from the changing quality of light

and how it alters not just the appearance of a scene or 

object but also the mood and emotions associated with it.  

​

For me, light and dark is a symbiotic relationship. You can't have

one without the other and both are interdependent and reliant on each other. 

Darkness is the absence of light both visually and emotionally.

​

I aim to capture the effects of light and dark both in my more naturalistic paintings which visually explore the world in which we live but also in works which are more of the mind.  In my more surreal paintings I use various images and ideas to explore human nature with all its strengths and flaws.

​

I hope these works encourage you to make your own sense of the paintings, and to connect with them in your own way.

 

It may not be the same as I intended, but is every bit as valid.

 

I believe we all have our unique ways of seeing and responding to the world we live in.
